Success Stories – Achieving Results

Tales of triumph – letter by letter, word by word.

We are very proud of the success of our Adult Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and Augustine Project® programs – and the triumphs of each and every student we serve.   Tutors consistently report improvements in speaking, listening comprehension, and writing skills among their Adult Education, ESOL, and Augustine Project® students.

The ESOL program consistently exceeds state benchmarks for student achievement.   In fiscal year 2008-2009, 93% of our students who completed at least nine months of instruction either advanced to a higher English level or improved their test score by at least six points.

We applaud the 53 students who have studied and been awarded U.S. Citizenship over the last five years.

We also congratulate our Adult Ed students.   In fiscal year 2008-2009, 76% improved their overall reading scores and 23% advanced an entire reading level!

The success stories we share are testimony to the pride, joy, and achievements of our students and our volunteer tutors.

What if…

…you can’t read the label on your child’s medicine bottle.

…you can’t count your change in the checkout line.

…you can’t fill out an application for a job.

… or the paperwork for a loan …or food …or housing.

…the boss hands you a new instruction manual.

…you need to get directions or read a map.

…the teacher sends home an important note about your child.
